Paper Bag Monster Puppet

Thank you so much Eeny Meeny what a lucky girl 😍

Abigail won this amazing prize for making the monster character Eeny using a paper bag. She used magazines to collage the purple colour and bottle caps to make the eyes.

She can’t wait to do more craft with her new supplies. Thanks 👍

That’s a wrap!

After 8 weeks of being at home Abigail is heading back to kindy. She is so looking forward to being with her teachers and friends but I think she has enjoyed the relaxed lifestyle of being home too. The many walks around the block, cooking with mum and dad, being in the garden and all the craft projects we have done. I think we are all ready for a bit more normality back though and she was so happy to be out at the playground this weekend and see these friendly deer at the park. Miles will miss having his big sister around but it won’t be long before he starts his kindy days.

Superhero Abigail

This mornings activity Superhero Abigail.

Inspired by Karen O’leary on the Early Learning with Karen O’leary show this morning on Home Learning TV.

All we did was cut eye holes out of a thin piece of fabric and tie the rest of the fabric around her neck. She had a lot of fun running around.

Gnocchi with the Kids

Has anyone else been tuning into TVNZ 1 each weekday at 4.30pm to see Nadia cook lovely family meals with her husband and boys? We have and my kids are absolutely loving it. They like watching her sons enjoying the food and helping Nadia in the kitchen. It is great to see simple recipes we can all do at home while we are in lock down with our bubbles. I recommend watching this show with your kids and getting them to help you out in the kitchen.

We decided to give her Gnocchi with Quick Italian Tomato Sauce a go. It was so simple and the kids loved mixing the gnocchi ingredients, kneading the dough and cutting the pieces of gnocchi.

Self Isolation Day 10 – Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross buns,
Hot cross buns,
One a penny,
Two a penny,
Hot cross buns.

If you have no daughters,
If you have no sons,
One a penny,
Two a penny,
Hot cross buns.

If your sons don’t like them,
They’re the only ones,
One a penny,
Two a penny,
Hot cross buns.

I don’t tell jokes
and I don’t tell puns,
One a penny,
Two a penny,
Hot cross buns.

Get them while they’re hot
and eat them by the ton,
One a penny,
Two a penny,
Hot cross buns.

Today’s project with my mini baker – Chelsea Winter Hot Cross Buns.

They are deliciously fluffy and are a perfect baking project for lock down to give them the time to rise to perfection.

Love your recipes Chelsea Winter

Self Isolation Day 7 and 8 – First Weekend in Isolation

Day 8 Saturday – Abigail got the full spa treatment today including a foot spa, face mask and nail polish. Followed by dressing up in the crowns we made yesterday and going for a walk with our little bubble taking pictures with my old digital camera. Finished off the day with some Cosmic Kids Yoga. The tidying job I got done was cleaning and organising our bedroom wardrobe, so satisfying getting all these little home jobs done.

Day 9 Sunday – My husband baked chocolate chip cookies with the kids this morning, they absolutely love baking so they were very happy about this. We also got them planting seeds in the newly built glasshouse which has been my husband’s lock down project. He will have to think of some new projects to get him through the next 3 weeks or more. The weather fined up in the afternoon so we were able to get outside. I set the kids up with the hose, car cleaner and a bucket of warm water. They did a great job of washing the car and had fun having water fights with each other. My two little tidying jobs were going through my clothes which resulted in 1 large bag of clothes to donate to the Op shop and clearing out the indoor freezer. We made a feijoa crumble from some frozen fruit treasures we found in the freezer.

Fig and Pear Tart Tatin

We are just picking the last of our delicious figs and pears and I wanted to make a yummy dessert to share with my husband as we go into lock down for at least the next 4 weeks. This dessert could be made with whatever fruit you have and would work well with fruits like apples or peaches. The crispy pastry tastes so good with the sweet caramel sauce and warm fruit.
