Both kids really enjoyed making a pretend birds nest out of straw and putting it in the tree. We talked about different birds and Abi decided our nest was for a fantail. This activity required little preparation and used natural items found outside so did not create any waste which is always awesome.
1. Help your child create a circle shape out of straw.
2. Collect moss or other greenery from your garden and place around the edge of the straw nest.
3. Find different coloured small rocks and place them in the nest.
4. Help child find a tree to put their next into and discuss different types of birds that you might have seen in your backyard and decide which bird would live in your nest.
